Spa Day

Updated on February 28, 2012

An at-home spa makes a great present. You don’t need to spend hundreds of dollars on spa treatments or waste gas driving to a spa that fits your personal needs. You have everything you need for a spa right at home. If you don’t already have a facial scrub, mask(s), and a foot bath then you can simply make accommodations. You discover you do not have a relaxing facial scrub or mask. Do not fret; gather some supplies that you have around the house, dry milk, oatmeal, and water. I use this homemade scrub and mask once or three times a week. It’s soothing, moisturizes, brightens, and clears discolorations.

I mix the ingredients according to my preference of texture and consistency, no cooking needed. Once mixed, you will apply the mask to a clean and dry face, if you like you can use this in two ways a mask or a light scrub. If you are using it as a scrub simply, apply in a circular motion then rinse. If you plan to use it as a mask, you can omit the oatmeal if you prefer and make a mixture of dry milk and water to make a paste like consistency, apply to face as any other mask, allow to dry (drying time may vary), rinse, pat dry and apply usual moisturizer.

Ooh..Ahh..

Another great homemade facial mask and scrub is the oatmeal, yogurt, and honey mask and the lemon, sugar, and salt scrub. Here’s a step-by-step guide for these wonderful mixtures.

Prep Time: 3 minutes

Total Time: 3 minutes

Oatmeal, Honey &Yogurt Mask

Ingredients:

· 1 tbsp oatmeal, finely ground

· 1 tbsp live, organic yogurt (skip the flavored stuff)

· A few drops of honey

Instructions:

Add the yogurt to the oatmeal in a small bowl and mix. Warm a few drop of honey. To do this, warm a spoon under hot water for a minute, then add a few drops of honey to the spoon. Stir the honey into the yogurt and oatmeal mixture. Apply the mask to the face. Leave it on for 10 minutes, and then rinse off with several splashes of warm water. Follow with a warm washcloth. Apply moisturizer.

Lemon Scrub

Ingredients:

· Juice from 1/2 of a lemon

· 2 Tbs. table salt

· Add sugar until thick but not dry

Instructions:

Apply to damp face and let sit 2-3 minutes, and then scrub gently using circular motions. Rinse well with warm water Leaves skin smooth and soft, and the lemon helps to "brighten" complexion. For best results, follow with avocado honey moisturizing mask

This is just one-step to your personalized spa day. If you’re lacking a foot bath, body wash, bath fizzers, and a basin will work just as well. Now that you have your scrub, mask, and footbath ready, wash with the scrub, fill the basin with the warmest water you can stand, add body wash in( this makes great bubbles and moisturizers), but wait to add the bath fizzers. After you have applied the mask, grab your favorite magazines, book, or put on your favorite genre of music. While your mask dries, apply your bath fizzers to the water, rest your feet and enjoy.

Added tips: Add real or artificial flower petals to enhance the moment, scented candles, and deemed lighting.
